Mark Hickerson (The Builder)

Mark Hickerson Born in Winchester, Virginia, Mark moved to Florida as a child.  He learned the art of custom homebuilding from his mother, Beverly, a highly respected contractor in the Fort Myers area.  The custom homes they produced were renowned for their quality.  Mark was then recruited by Arthur Rutenberg Homes to build custom homes in the Naples area.  He quickly rose in the ranks to become the top builder in the system, earning the coveted “Super Club” award.  A training course in a new construction scheduling program, led to a chance meeting with his future wife thus ultimately bringing him to Brevard County.

Mark then built over 80 custom homes for Arthur Rutenberg Homes in Viera before leaving to start his own company with his wife in 2008, Avalon Contracting Services, carrying on the family tradition.  As a Certified General Contractor, Mark brings knowledge, integrity, and a can-do attitude along with his twenty-five years of experience.  His attention to detail and value engineering make him a stand out in the construction industry.

Kelli Hickerson (Purchasing)

Kelli Hickerson Although not a Florida native, Kelli has lived in Central Florida for most of her life. She began her career while in college working for her family’s electrical contracting company in Brevard County. Although pursuing a degree in accounting, construction seemed far more interesting to her. While working for Chrome Electric, she was also the executive director for the Space Coast chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors overseeing administration, membership, and the electrical apprenticeship school at Brevard Community College. She has worked for some of the biggest names in residential building: Centex, Mercedes, Lennar and Arthur Rutenberg Homes. While at Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Kelli began as a purchasing manager and was quickly promoted to corporate trainer and then again to franchise development and training. She was responsible for establishing and training new building companies and their executives.

Taking her many years of experience in construction management, estimating, purchasing, and accounting, Kelli started her own company, Avalon Contracting Services, with her husband. Avalon Contracting Services provides personal attention and outstanding quality to their customers.
