First Time Homebuyer? Check Off This List Before you Make an Offer

Posted: November 6th, 2019

Buying your first home is decidedly one of the most important moments of your life, right up there with graduating, starting your career, and so on. Many first-time homebuyers are ready to jump right into the process, and while we appreciate that enthusiasm, making sure you have all your ducks in a row first can help make the process less stressful and can help you ensure you find the perfect house for you. Here’s a quick checklist:

-Research the area where you want to purchase. If you have kids, you’ll want to know about schools, enrichment programs, and so on. If you don’t, you’ll still want to know what kind of amenities are around you as well as your proximity to your job.

-Talk to the neighbors! The best way to find out if you’ll like living somewhere is by getting a firsthand account of the area. You can also get a grasp on whether or not you’d like to live near these people!

-After you’ve made an offer, it’s time to get an inspection. This will give you a clue about any repair expenses you’ll have after you’ve purchased your property.

-Secure your financing rate. Most people don’t have enough cash upfront to buy a house outright, so you’ll want to work on your credit score before you start the process so you can secure a reasonable financing rate.

Purchasing your first home doesn’t have to be stressful when you work with the right team. Call Ellingson Properties at 321-750-7050 to learn more.
