Port St. John

Port St. John is a family friendly town located between Titusville and Cocoa in northern Brevard County Florida and sits between US 1 and I-95. Many residents are employed at nearby Cape Canaveral, the Kennedy Space Center or one of the many tech, space and engineering companies in the area. Port St. John is 8 square miles in area with an approximate population of 12,000. The town offers parks with recreational opportunities such as tennis, biking, walking trails and baseball/softball fields.  There are a few restaurants in Port St. John, but nearby Titusville offers a larger selection of lodging and dining options. A community center is open 7 days a week with a list of activities such as senior lunch, billiards, basketball, Zumba classes, children’s cooking workshops and other planned and special events.  Many young professionals live in Port St. John and most residents own their hown homes.  Port St. John schools are very good and it is considered a niche locale to raise families.

History

In 2002, a group of five residents attempted to incorporate Port St. John. The incorporation issue was defeated in November of 2002. It remains unincorporated but with it's continued popularity and growth, the area may again try for incorporation.

Brevard County’s Space Coast

Port St. John is located in northern Brevard County on Florida’s “Space Coast”.  The Space coast boasts 72 beautiful miles of coastline attracting beachgoers, surfers, boaters and fishermen who favor the Space Coast for its fabulous waves, offshore fishing and uncrowded beaches with plenty of access and free parking. Additionally, Brevard County is home to 71% of the 156 mile Indian River Lagoon where residents and visitors take in water sports and activities such as sailing, boating, fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking. Port Canaveral, one of the countries busiest cruise ports, is home to Royal Caribbean, Disney and Carnival Cruise lines.  Residents and visitors can hop on a 3, 5- or 7-day cruise from the Port. Also known as “The Port”, Port Canaveral   The area also hosts a number of great restaurants, some with waterfront, where you can watch the cruise ships arriving and departing the Port.

For space history enthusiasts, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers tours, exhibits, and meet the astronaut programs.  The Cape Canaveral Air Force Station launches satellites many times throughout the year.

For convenience of travel, Port St. John is a short drive to Melbourne Orlando International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Sanford Orlando International Airport.  There’s so much to offer and so many activities to participate in you’ll want to stay forever!
